"Schweinitz's Curtsy"

14x20 / $250.00

The Schweinitz's sunflower is a federally endangered variety. It grows to six meters high and gently bows over from the weight of its own height. It is distinguished from other similar varieties by fuzzy leaves. Growing in eleven counties in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina it is thought to have grown in the piedmont prairies of the state years ago when buffalo roamed. Many organizations in the state now work in concert to provide for the survival of this rare beauty.
